Dying for a Dinner Date

Every Friday that I can, I write a post here to link up with Rebecca over at R We There Yet Mom for her Friday Daydreamin' segment. It's supposed to be about something we're longing for while we go about the hustle and bustle of our daily lives, but I quite often end up telling some bizarre story instead (and some are far more bizarre than others).

This week though, I really am longing for something. It's not a tropical beach or a weekend in Vegas, although I wouldn't have an objection to either of those things. It's a little simpler than that. This school year, and all it's extra-curricular activities, has started out so busy that all I'm really thinking about is finding time for a dinner date with my baby.

Unfortuantely, dinner dates seem better when I'm traveling with my wife. Not only because we can find some alone time from the kids, but because our conversations tend to be more wide-ranging and adventurous while we're not focused on what else needs to get done that week.

It doesn't have to be dinner. Breakfast is just as good as long as it's simply the two of us with some time to talk over a little bit of good food.

Heck, sometimes I can even get away with just buying food off a cart if that's what Lori is in the mood for.

Sadly, we have no real travel planned for the next little bit, so if I want some time alone with my wife, I'm going to have to take her out to dinner here locally. That's OK. We have our favorite restaurant in Kelowna that we can sneak out to once in a while for a little dinner date.

The service better be as prompt as usual though. Apparently I've lost my ability to make small talk while we're waiting for the food to arrive.

This post is a part of Photo Friday at Delicious Baby and Friday Daydreamin at R We There Yet Mom. If you didn't get here from one of those sites, you should really go check them out. There's people there who might cut their husband a little slack if he lets the conversation lag for a second or two.
