Mending the Matterhorn

I first started going to Disneyland when I was eight years old, and for the longest time my favorite ride in the park was the Matterhorn. I don't know why when there are certainly more extreme rides in the park, but for some reason I liked the feeling of zipping in and out of a mountain. Made me feel rather brave and adventurous.

As I grew up though, and my affections turned towards the faster and more extreme rides, I very rarely spent any time on the Matterhorn. In fact, once my kids started coming to Disneyland with us, the Matterhorn fell off our "must-do" list altogether. That's why, when I visited in February, I was excited to see the Matterhorn undergoing a serious renovation.

Sadly however, the renovations to the Matterhorn were fairly routine. A new paint job, a new seating arrangement for the cars, and a little reorganizing of the lineup area. Nothing that really screams out to jump back in line and see the changes. They did make one change however, that is important and really, long overdue...

They really needed to get that 3 point line installed on the court. That was long overdue.

(Editors note: For those of you who don't live and breathe Disney, there is a basketball half-court in the top portion of the Matterhorn, above the ride.)

This post is a part of Wordless Wednesday over at Focused on the Magic. If you didn't get here from there, you should really head on over and check out some of the fantastic people that hang out there on Wednesdays. Most of them probably wouldn't have a problem kicking my butt in a game of H.O.R.S.E. in basketball, but I'd be happy to lose to them if it meant I could play on this court.
