Leap Day at Disneyland

It was a good idea, but it wasn't a unique one. Disneyland's Leap Day was one of the most crowded events I've ever attended at the park, and this is coming from someone who usually goes to Disneyland around Christmas or in the summer. We arrived at the park around 5:45 am, and the line for entry stretched out of Disneyland and down Harbor Blvd to Disney Way, then turned around and came back. I have no idea how long it took to get all those people in the park, as we went around and came through Downtown Disney, but I imagine it wasn't a quick process. We gained entry at around 6:20am to realize that making our way around the park wasn't going to be so easy today.

We're used to crowds at Disneyland though, so despite the onslaught, we had a great time. Disney trotted out a whole slew of extra stuff for the day, including a bunch of food that has long been taken off the menu...

and of course there were plenty of extra entertainment offerings and character opportunities....

It wouldn't be a Disney event without some extra merchandise available to buy....

or all the local media getting into the spirit....

Our efforts to stay for the entire 24 hours fell short around hour 15. I'll write about what happened and the mistakes we made later, but the time we did spend at the park was a lot of fun. Would I do it again? Well the next Leap Day isn't for four years, but with a different plan, sure I would. I'm going to have to start my training now though. I'll need to be in a whole lot better shape for those last 9 hours next time.

This post is a part of Photo Friday at Delicious Baby and Friday Daydreamin at R We There Yet Mom. If you didn't get here from one of those sites, you should really go check them out. There's people there who would have stayed the entire 24 hours, then turned around and lined up to get back in. We call these people "Younger than me".
